Kīlauea Iki

What is left of an eruption in 1959. It belched out a lava lake 400 feet deep! The lake is now solid and many tourists walk across its surface to the other side of the crater. Quite a terrain!

This is a volcano along the Chain of Craters Road on the Island of Hawaii.  It erupted in 1959 and belched out a lava lake 400 feet deep! The lake is now solid and many tourists walk across its surface to the other side of the crater. Quite an experience!
